As I was setting up my TF Gear delta beach casters all rounder match rods the tide was starting to cover the mud flats of Youghal’s famous Slob bank. With my baits was on and I was ready to test cast one of the nicest flattie rods I had ever bought. As the baits and lead were flinging through the air I knew I could easily put another 20 yards on to the next cast. With the two rods out it did not take long to get my first bite. As the flounder was taking the bait I could see every little knock that I would have missed on my older rods. All the fish I was landing were a good size between 1lb 8oz – 2lb 4 oz until I landed a cracking Flounder of 3 lb 3oz my new personal best. Nearly all the flounder were lip hooked due to an early bite indication. The day was coming to an end and we decided to have one last cast. I casted as far as I could and then started to tidy up the rest of my gear. As I was doing that one of my rods got a slack line I lifted and started to reel until I could feel the fish, I set the hook it was another big flounder. It weighed 2lb 10 oz what a day. The next day was totally opposite we only had a few Flounder and they were small I suppose that why they call it fishing.
